Where Has Unconditional Been Hiding?
- October 1st, 2021
That is a question we have occasionally asked ourselves! A myriad of reasons come to mind; physical challenges requiring joint replacements, (new hips for us both) care of aging parents and oh, what was the other thing? Ah, yes. COVID-19. Nothing more really needs to be said, does it? There is not a person on this earth who did not have to recalculate daily living.
We have been so very blessed compared to what others have sacrificed and lost. We live in a small, relatively isolated community. We were able to be outdoors and take walks. We own devices and have access to both the internet and needed basics to live. One of our moms lives next door so we were not confined to one space. Many games of cards were played over the first several months of lockdown. We have a small notebook for the "Covid Games Championship", which has continued after things opened up. No immediate family was hospitalized. Blessing upon blessing.
This was not the reality for most and aside from all of the heartache and loss due to Covid, the tensions, losses and heartbreak continued in families struggling with same sex complexities. We worked with folks ranging from a middle school child to adult children divorcing to enter into a same sex relationship to have a child announce reassignment.
Yes, we have been off the grid in terms of electronic communication, however, we were fully present in prayer for all of the hurting. There isn't a family or relationship not touched by the "gender battle/confusion/heartaches". Relationships have been wounded and some seem beyond repair let alone restored. There is not one relationship beyond God's healing touch. Oftentimes, the healing process looks nothing like we envision it to be. Unconditional exists to pray with and for you regardless of where you find yourself in this journey you didn't sign up for. We are here for you whether you are the parent of a gay child, if you are the gay child/family member or a friend of someone trying to find their way. We need one another and even more so in these times we live in.
